A Note to Our Email Subscribers

I’m so sorry that we’ve been falling so far behind and then spamming your inboxes with images all at once! It’s my fault.

Thursday will mark the start of year 4 of this blog (whoa!), and I will admit that I’ve let it fall back in my priorities list. What I love about making pictures is actually seeing something that delights my eyes; somehow I just haven’t been taking the time to relax and look around, and haven’t been feeling motivated to post what I’m not at all proud of. Counsel and I got together for the first time in over a decade (11? 12?) about a week ago. Aside from that being generally amazing(!), we discussed this project… what it means to us, the difficulties, and the joys. As hard as it can be to step back from life on a daily basis to take a photo that I love, I was reminded how much I value looking back through visual mementos of the past years’ experiences. I want more of that, but better (not least because a well composed photo means I was relaxed and happy enough to look).

I apologize for the periods of silence and subsequent deluge. I’m going to bump AYOD up my priorities list. Even if we hit you with a couple of weeks at once sometimes (it’s coming, we’re catching up!), I want it to constitute a satisfying rainbow of input instead of slippage toward a mediocre barrage. It’s humbling that anyone bothers to receive yet another email, or look at yet another blog. Thanks for lending your eyes to this rather personal project (through its ups and downs and ups)!
